"The Moon" from Duck Tales on the Nintendo is probably one of my favorite songs to come out of the NES era. Give it 15 seconds for the melody to build up. It's a pretty decent game to boot, too! Do you like THE FREAKIN' MOON?! I hope you do...If not, give me your suggestion.
There's wasn't really anything very special about this game that wasn't done before. The use of the cane was interesting as you could use it to launch items after winding up ala a golf swing. You could also jump on enemies while holding down to defeat them. You have no idea how long it took me as a kid to figure out how to jump-stab enemies. HOLD DOWN. There was multiple endings as well depending on how much optional loot and goodies you picked up along the way, and there are plenty of hidden treasures in this game. Anyway, the rest of the soundtrack in the game is good, but the best song out of the whole cartridge was THE MOON! Do any of you have a favorite video game song ?
The very beginning and some of the later repeating parts remind me of the "Rainbow Road" theme from Mario Kart, for some reason...
ReplyDeleteCool post comrade!
I miss the 8-bit music of old sometimes.
ReplyDeletenice, i like it too
ReplyDeleteWow, DuckTales! Now THERE'S a blast from the past! I remember this track after having listened to it...it's been a while since hearing it, though.
ReplyDeleteIt'd be very hard to narrow down to a favorite track, honestly. There's been so much good music in video games over the last ~25 years...I think it'd almost have to be something by Uematsu, or something from one of the Mega Man games (probably a track from Mega Man 2).
As far as which one gets stuck in my head the most often, probably some music from any of the old Mario games for NES and Super Mario World for SNES.
Real interesting stuff here...followed :-)
Favorite old video game music for me HAS to be Aquatic Ambiance from Donkey Kong Country. Probably the most chill song I have ever heard.
ReplyDeleteHoly crap Sadistic...That's probably my next blog post, I love that song. It's eerily soothing to me.

the people who make these are really the most underrated composers. video game music is badass and very well written but no one will ever know the people behind it. Im a big fan of sonic 2's music personally
