To be honest Donkey Kong Country series was not my cup of tea. It was a straightforward platforming game released as one of the first SNES games and it featured some crazy (for the time) pre-rendered photo realistic graphics. It was enough to make it an awesome game, but it has not aged too well gameplay wise. It's just really simple; a bit too simple for me. I think it's partly because I never got to play SNES games until I found out about emulation and by that time I was spoiled by more modern games like PS1 and N64 stuff. TLDR: I don't quite hold DKC series on such high pedastals as others might, but I love the one song from the series in particular..
Stickerbrush Symphony.
And the readers that follow me and played DKC2 will all go "OMG YES, THAT SONG" in unison because it is that powerful of a song. DKC2 has some good songs, but this definitely takes the gold medal hands down. It is relaxing, soothing, and it has a mysterious tone to it. I really hope you give this a listen if you're having a bad day as it might make the rest of your day pretty mellow.
I like it very much, donkey kong is awesome.
ReplyDeleteDKC2 is my favourite SNES game! David Wise is a genius. He is what is missing from DKC Returns for me.
ReplyDeletethis was the best snes game imo, and the OST is at my all time top 10 for sure
ReplyDeletethis is a great song for a game. they should still make songs like this...
ReplyDeleteAHHHHHHHHHHHHH I WANT TO PLAY IT AGAIN. uuuugh and i don't have it.
ReplyDeleteHm, its merits in graphics at the time were lost as time went on, while a game with lesser graphics and better gameplay would still be worth playing. A lesson for developers.
ReplyDeleteOh man, I loved this game....
ReplyDeleteThis song is great, all the DK music was really catchy.
ReplyDeleteI remember playing this game till my knuckles snapped!!!
ReplyDeleteI do know this song!
ReplyDeleteI love the second game. I played it so much as a kid. I love the rollercoaster level. I could play it for hours.
Game music is not the same any more. Games use to have amazing soundtracks :(
ReplyDeleteI am like you, DK aren't really my kind of games but, damn, I love that song!
ReplyDeleteI remember this game being a lot of fun actually And my son really enjoys it on the emulator.
ReplyDeleteoh my god i miss that game so much!

ReplyDeleteOH GOD THIS IS MY FAVOURITE TRACK FROM DKC2 DIDDYS KONGQUEST.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
I still have my snes hooked up and DKC2 and super mario allstars are the only games I have on them. I <3 how it aged, it's a shame you don't :(
I played N64 before SNES but it didn't bother me that much well also because, I use to play Donkey Kong of a friend back then.
ReplyDeleteVery cool song, but I will be honest in saying that I never played Diddy's KongQuest.
ReplyDeletelove it.
ReplyDeleteI remember when the first one came out for the snes, it was super awesome, and the new version for Wii is really good.
ReplyDeletejust remembered it, FREAKING AWESOME GAME
ReplyDeleteyeah, that song :)
ReplyDeleteI love donkey kong. When it was released I couldn't believe those graphics, so amazing. (DK and Killer Instinct were revolutionary for SNES)
Ooommmggg I loved all the DK games. well...1 2 3 and 64. the rest after that looked awful so I never bothered to look at them. (cept the new remake i need to try out) I LOVED 2 the most though. Diddy Kongs Quest was amazing IMO. Favorite stage and song being the Rollercoaster.
ReplyDeleteoh i had this one, i loved it, one of my favs with kirby superstar and bomberman2
ReplyDeleteohhh bring back so many memories.... :)
ReplyDeleteI never played it either but I do like that song.
ReplyDeleteis this the original song? or like a techno remix. wheres the download link?
ReplyDeleteThe DKC series had INCREDIBLE music. So underrated...
ReplyDeletewow never thought old video game songs were that sweet but now..i'm digging it lol
ReplyDeleteFun, catchy song! :)
ReplyDeleteI have MAJOR NOSTALGIA for Donkey Kong Country man. Infact, my SNES still works and I had a sick DK session in late 2010 one weekend. ha.
ReplyDeleteyeah the music always ruled also.
I hated 3 but I thought 2 was the best of the series
ReplyDeleteso many fond memories and frustrating ones too
ReplyDeleteI always hated the graphics. The character sprites looked awkward against the backgrounds. Super Mario RPG used a similar technique but did it better.
ReplyDeleteI loved the DKC series.
